Wood Paneling in your Kitchen

Posted by on

In our previous post, we promised that we would offer you even more tips on transforming your kitchen to a warm, cottage, welcoming feel.  Design the Space offers wood paneling that will aid in your remodeling project.

If you are remodeling an older house that has character you do not want to lose, choose one of those pieces as the focal point for your new creation. For example, if your kitchen has a beautiful glass-front cabinet allow that to be the focus for your remodel.  Strip old layers of paint to see if you can salvage its original color.  Mixing in one-of-a-kind finds like salvaged cabinetry or architectural elements delivers a charming look.  Add wood paneling to the walls, and paint it a beautiful shade of mint green.  Complete the look with some floral pieces from your local antique store.

So you have a new house or are in the process of building one? Not a problem. Use cottage icons such as wood paneling, moldings, schoolhouse lights, and an apron-front sink to create almost-instant architecture and a sense of history. Install pieces in stages as your budget allows.  Accent with yellow, lime green, and a deep purple for a beautiful look.

Help people feel at home in your kitchen. Add a comfy place to sit and visit. Partner a table with straight lines with curvy wicker chairs and a padded banquette to create a cozy spot for dining and conversation.  Use fabrics with shades of white, tan, and blue for a cottage feel.  Find a beautiful vase and feel it with dried flowers and your transformation is complete.

Cottage style is many things. It can be a white custom cabinetry with brushed door pulls and bin-style cup pulls that give it a vintage vibe. It can be the apron-front sink, honed granite counters, and subway tile.  It can be the wood paneling ceiling painted bright white.  It's also adding simple homey touches like the striped rug and the antique step stool with chipped paint.

Whatever color scheme, or cottage look you chose to incorporate, Design the Space has the wood paneling to complete your project! Contact us today to get started.
